AAfPE 27th Annual Conference
October 15 – 18, 2008

Message from the President…

“We are going to have a great time in Dallas!  They do everything a bit larger in Dallas– and this conference is no exception.  The Conference Committee, headed by Kathryn Myers, has done a splendid job with great sessions and a wonderful schedule that includes time for networking and exploring.  If you are a new director – or a newer director or even an “old” director -- the optional Dine-Arounds will provide a great opportunity to get together with program directors and instructors from across the country. We also have a wonderful optional event that I hope everyone will take advantage of – an evening at the Texas State Fair.

AAfPE’s Mission Statement is: to provide greater access to legal services by promoting quality, paralegal education.  The theme of this year’s conference, Foundations of Teaching, truly underscores the central mission of our organization.   Is assessment an issue at your school and with your accrediting agencies?  We will have a session on assessment.  Interested in making your internship program more robust?  Come to Dallas to find out how you can do so.  Look through the brochure and you will probably have the same reaction that I do – there are too many great choices.  These conferences provide members with great resources and ideas that can be implemented when you return to your institution.

I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.  This conference will provide you with a wealth of information to make your program better, introduce you to colleagues on whom you can rely for great advice, practical ideas for how to get things done, and revitalize you in your role as a paralegal educator.  See you in October!”

Sincerely,

Marisa Campbell, JD
